Information centre second Coentunnel/Westrandweg open

01 March 2010 | press release

'An information centre like this is of great value in involving the audiences of RWS (Directorate-General for Public Works and Water Management) in the second Coentunnel/Westrandweg  project', Fred Delpeut stresses the importance of good communication with the various stakeholders of the project.

Impression of the infomation centre
With the construction of the second Coentunnel and the Westrandweg, RWS ensures better accessibility of the Northern Randstad and improved opening up of the Western port area of Amsterdam. Ample attention is paid to the environment, the landscape and compensation for loss of nature.

The information centre is well worth a visit
The information centre is open Wednesday and Friday afternoons from 12:30 to 16:30 for audiences such as residents and road users. On request, it is also possible to visit the centre and the work with a group (for example, students/pupils or employees of a company). The centre shows the current state of affairs and the planning of construction work in words and images. The Information Centre also provides an explanation of the construction technique and the project's impact on the environment and the landscape and what is done to compensate loss of nature.

How to reach the Information Centre
The Information Centre second Coentunnel/Westrandweg is only a stone's throw from the construction site at Westpoortweg 22 in Amsterdam. The centre is easily accessible by car, bicycle or public transport, from Sloterdijk Station, with regional bus 81 (to IJmuiden), stop Hornhaven.
